Weldon Rise planning application - 11/00787/FUL (new home for Great Crested Newts) and 11/00788/FUL (single dwelling on land adjacent to No 5 & No 8 Weldon Rise, Loughton) - update following MKC Development Control meeting held on 14th July 2011.
At the MKC Development Control meeting it was agreed by the council to approve both applications with a legally binding condition that planning application 11/00787/FUL is agreed by the Councils appointed environmetalist to be successfully established before any building works on the dwelling can start. The creation of the new home for the GCN colony (ponds) were given the normal planning timescale of 3 years from this date otherwise the approval will lapse. The planning approval for the dwelling (11/00788/FUL) was given an additional 3 years from this date (6 years in total) for work to start, this is due to the fact that the ponds will need at least 3 years to be built, naturalised and then proven that the GCN colony has been successfully relocated. The critical element of this is proof of the successful relocation of the GCN colony otherwise there could be a further delay in starting the dwelling building works. The MK Parks Trust will be tasked with managing the construction and landscaping of the necessary ponds in an adjacent meadow which they control (see planning app. for exact location).
